Head-on collision claims life of elderly Valley man | News
VALLEY, AL - A car accident killed an elderly man in Valley around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Mark Smith, age 78, was traveling north on the Fairfax Bypass in a Chevy S-10 truck when he was struck head on by a GMC 1500.
Smiths' vehicle was turned on its side and the fire department was forced to use the Jaws of Life to get him out.
He was taken to George H. Lanier Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The other driver was not hurt in the accident.
Valley Police and Chambers County Coroners Office are investigating.
